Reverend Dr. Leron Peterkin is the son of Evelyn Peterkin Williams and Sylvester S. Rabb. He is the father of three beautiful children: Tiy, Jaya, and Josiah and the grandfather of three beautiful grandchildren: Inaya. Karleigh and Brennan Jr. (BJ).
He is a 1988 honor graduate of Bennettsville High School, obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of South Carolina in 1995, a Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Webster University in 1999 and a PhD in Education from Capella University in 2014. Also, Reverend Dr. Peterkin is a licensed and ordained minister. He performed his initial sermon and was licensed on October 10, 2004, at Shiloh Baptist Church in Bennettsville, SC and became ordained as Reverend November 16, 2009.
Reverend Dr. Peterkin is a former member of the US Army where he served as a 13 Bravo (Cannon Crewmember) from 1990-1993 and he is a combat veteran having served with A. Battery 3/41 FA Ft. Stewart, Ga in Operation Desert Shield/Storm from August 1990 – March 1991.
He started his career after graduating from the University of South Carolina in 1995 with Northeastern Technical College in Cheraw, SC and was employed there for over 19 years. In his final capacity, he served as Dean of Student Services until December 2014. In January 2015 he attained the position of Vice President for Student Affairs at Williamsburg Technical College in Kingstree, SC where he served until his retirement in June 2016. While employed at Northeastern Technical College from 2008 – 2012.
Reverend Dr. Peterkin was also an Adjunct Professor of Psychology at Grand Canyon University remotely. Reverend Dr. Peterkin is the owner of his own Educational Consulting business, and he served as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology remotely at Edward Waters University in Jacksonville, FL from August 2022 – January 2026. In January 2026 Reverend Dr. Peterkin accepted a full-time position with Edward Waters University and he is now an Assistant Professor of Psychology.
