Senior Kappa Affairs
The Senior Kappa Affairs Committee serves the brothers of the Columbia (SC) Alumni Chapter who are sixty and over — keeping them active and connected, looking after those who are sick or shut in, and turning a lifetime of experience toward service for seniors across the Midlands.
Senior Kappa Affairs
The National Senior Kappa Affairs Committee exists to recruit, reclaim and retain members of the Fraternity who are sixty years of age and older as active, contributing, fully financial brothers — and to support their involvement and well-being.
In Columbia the committee meets in person once a month and is among the chapter’s most consistently active. Senior brothers gather for fellowship, check on brothers who are sick or shut in, and carry a full share of the chapter’s service work — from the Lunch Buddy program at Joseph Keels Elementary School to Thanksgiving baskets and deliveries to shelters across the Midlands.

Recruit, Reclaim, Retain
Bring brothers sixty and over back to active, contributing, fully financial membership in the Fraternity.
Support and Well-Being
Encourage programs that keep senior brothers involved in the life of the chapter and looked after in their own.
Serve Our Seniors
Direct community service toward senior citizens throughout the chapter’s service area.
A Permanent Committee
Maintain Senior Kappa Affairs as a standing committee of the Columbia (SC) Alumni Chapter.
The Senior Kappa Luncheon
Senior Kappas gather on the first or second Wednesday of each month at the Brookland Baptist Banquet & Conference Center. Lunch is $15.63 for brothers sixty and over — $12.50 plus a $3.13 gratuity.
Dates are occasionally adjusted. Brothers are notified ahead of any change.
Brothers Serving the Midlands
Senior Kappas do not simply receive the chapter’s care — they deliver a good deal of it. Over the past fraternal year the committee served alongside the chapter at Joseph Keels Elementary School, assembled and delivered Thanksgiving baskets, and carried Christmas gift cards to the widows of brothers.
During Senior Kappa Week in May, brothers delivered clothing and men’s underwear to the Men’s Transitioning Shelter on Main Street, underwear and laundry detergent to the Oliver Gospel Mission on Taylor Street, and throw blankets to the NHC nursing home — then visited the Newberry Kappas and closed the week with worship at Brookland Baptist.
