Rooted in Tradition. Focused on the Future.

More than seventy years of brotherhood, leadership, mentorship, and service have shaped our chapter into one of the Southeastern Province’s most accomplished alumni chapters.

The Columbia Chapter

Brotherhood, Leadership and Service Since 1947

The Columbia (SC) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi® Fraternity, Inc. was chartered on February 2, 1947 by eleven brothers living in the Columbia area, and has served the South Carolina Midlands continuously ever since.

Brotherhood, leadership, mentorship and service have guided this chapter for more than seventy years. That work has also been recognised: the chapter received the J. Michael Graves Chapter of the Year Award for three consecutive years within the Kappa Alpha Psi Southeastern Province — twice in the Large Chapter category, and most recently as the inaugural recipient in the Extra-Large Chapter category at the 100th Centennial Province Council Meeting held in Greenville on March 28, 2026.

A defining pillar of our mission is “Training Future Leaders” — a responsibility we embrace with intention and pride. The chapter provides guidance, mentorship and developmental support to four undergraduate chapters: Beta Rho at Allen University, Gamma Mu at Benedict College, Zeta Epsilon at the University of South Carolina, and Xi Pi at Newberry College.

Whether you are a community partner, a visiting brother, a prospective member, or a stakeholder, you will find a chapter deeply rooted in purpose — focused on uplifting our community, mentoring the next generation, and advancing the legacy of the Columbia (SC) Alumni Chapter and Kappa Alpha Psi.
